Mr. Spivey is super excited to be a part of the leadership team at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary (ACE.) He has been at ACE since its inception and it has become a huge part of him since 2006. He has developed many lifelong relationships with students, families and staff members. There is no greater joy as an educator than to hear how successful former students have become! Mr. Spivey is anxious to showcase all of the wonderful things that the students at ACE do and wants to ensure that all current and future students have a first-class educational experience at the elementary level.
Mr. Spivey is a Winchester native that graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in 2000. He went on to receive a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Georgetown College in 2008. Mr. Spivey began his teaching career in 2001, teaching a 4th/5th grade split at Dixie Magnet Elementary. Then in 2006, he came to ACE where he has taught 3rd, 4th, 5th and most recently, 2nd grade. In 2020, Mr. Spivey received his Rank I in School Leadership from Georgetown College. With experience at multiple grade levels, curriculum development at the district level, as well as serving on multiple committees including PBIS and SBDM, Mr. Spivey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the school.
When Mr. Spivey is not at school, you are likely to find him spending time with his family. He and his wife, Tonya, spend much time supporting their 3 children, Reagan, Chandler and Ashlyn, on the soccer or baseball field. All of Mr. Spivey’s children are ACE alumni. This is something that Mr. Spivey is very proud of and says he “can’t imagine them getting loved and supported any more than they did at ACE.” He wants that same experience for all kids that enter the doors of ACE!
