Mr. Steelman has dedicated himself to the field of education for many years. During this time, he has worked with students ranging in age from kindergarten to 12th grade in a variety of roles. Prior to becoming Assistant Principal/PGES Coach at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary, his professional career was diverse. He has held positions at the Alternate Learning Center at Bowling Green High School (BGHS), 7th Grade Science and 8th Grade Pre-AP Biology Teacher at South Warren Middle School, and the Science Department Chair at Beaumont Middle School. His career then turned toward administration, where he was the Assistant Principal at Mt. Sterling Elementary. Mr. Steelman’s leadership isn’t just limited to the classroom or administration office, he has also coached a variety of high school sports, including varsity football and baseball, and has spent the last six years coaching baseball at Sayre School in Lexington. Steelman holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Western Kentucky University, and both a master’s degree in teacher leadership and Rank 1 in administration from the University of the Cumberlands.
Mr. Steelman became the principal at ACE in July 2022. His goal is for ACE to be known not only in this district, but the entire state for its ability to provide the best learning opportunities for students. He is deeply aware of the variety of gifts and talents that ACE Eagles bring to the table and is excited to cultivate and showcase those gifts to the city of Lexington and around the state. Mr. Steelman is excited to unite his experience, openness to learn, and child-centered approach to support our students. Knowing that the relationships formed between families and the school are vital to the success of the students, he encourages all stakeholders to become involved in every way possible.
